Retired Mechanical Engineer and Toolmaker / Machinist working from home, so how does $60 an hour (Minimum 1-hour) sound for anything and everything that we do? We like doing any form of general Laser marking and/or cutting, but we have a very warm spot for all forms of motor racing products. (see more below)
This is a 25-Watt CO2 Laser. It will mark anodized aluminum and cut plywood to about 1/4" thick. It will also cut various forms of plastic but we will limit the plastics we will cut dependent on the toxicity of the fumes from each plastic type.
The swept area under the Laser beam focus is 11" x 16" We have about 7-1/2" under the Laser beam focus and that limits the maximum height of an item to mark or cut.
Our laser system requires Corel version 5 to operate from and we also have Corel version 10o for design work.
We can accept Corel 5 and 10 format .CDR files but we will have to adjust them to suit our Laser parameters. If you are providing .CDR files then please save them as version 5. We can convert from Corel 10 back to Corel 5 for you but if extra work is required it will be charged at the $48 rate.
Please convert all fonts in the artwork to Curves as we may not have your fonts installed and Corel will try to substitute fonts and that may not be what you like.
We can accept many different formats to import into our Corel version 5 or Corel version 10. Please ask if we have a filter to import your specific file format. If you supply items in .DXF format they must be in DXF version Release 12 or earlier.
We may also be able to do Vector to Raster and/or Raster to Vector conversion for you. Please ask and we will be happy to try converting a section for your approval, free of charge.
All graphics work is done at our standard rate of $48 an hour with no minimum hours.
We like to do from 1 to about 12 items. Anything more than that and it becomes Production and we will probably say "no thanks" remember, we are Retired.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Initially we will require all raw material. After we get to know you a bit, that may change.
Because we do not have to run a full time Laser engraving shop, we only take on the jobs we can do in a short time. We like to spend time away from the machines, riding motorcycles or any other worthwhile pursuit that takes our Retired fancy. All work and no play makes Pete and Dave very dull boys indeed.
